Guest Blog: Code of Practice for Statistics Consultation

I’m pleased to introduce a guest blog by Penny Babb from the Office for Statistics Regulation. The UK Statistics Authority is currently consulting on a revised version of the Code of Practice for statistics. The Code of Practice is the framework for the official statistics produced here in Wales as well as the rest of the UK.

As part of this revision the Authority are proposing that the Code provides principles that can apply to any numerical information so it is relevant to the wider data agenda. I’d very much encourage those with interest in data and statistics in Wales to respond.

Chief Statistician’s update: Filling the gap in our knowledge of housing conditions in Wales

Before Christmas the Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Children and the Cabinet Secretary for the Environment and Rural Affairs announced funding of a three year programme of work to fill the gap in our knowledge about housing conditions in Wales.  Given that the last comprehensive collection of data on housing conditions in Wales was the Living in Wales Property Survey 2008 this is an important step in filling one of the key evidence gaps that users often raise with me.
