Cyber: Defining our priorities for Wales

Back in February we wrote a blog telling you about the development of a Cyber Action Plan for Wales. Since then, we have been working with stakeholders to develop the plan. The Digital Strategy for Wales sets out how we want people to have the motivation, access, skills and confidence to use digital in a modern world.

Digital is now a fundamental aspect of our daily lives – used for entertainment and leisure activities, in work and education, for keeping in touch with family and friends and accessing important public services. Many of us benefit from being able to use digital tools and technology confidently, however as the pace of change in digital technology increases, there is risk that more people will remain or become digitally excluded. Digital exclusion is experienced by people who do not have access, skills, confidence, or motivation to use the internet or digital tools.

LoRaWAN – Fighting crime and tackling climate change

In my last blog, I mentioned how LoRaWAN is revolutionising how sensing is done and, since then, it’s been incredible to witness LoRaWAN adoption increasing at pace.

For example, a major water utility company is investing in 5000 LoRaWAN gateways and 3 million sensors that will be retrofitted to existing water meters, and combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI), will improve detection of leaks and optimise the water network.
