Chief Statistician’s update: understanding people’s views and lives during the pandemic

The National Survey for Wales is the main social survey carried out by Welsh Government and its partners. It involves around 12,000 people across Wales each year, and in normal times it’s based on interviewing people in their homes. The survey covers many different topics, from health and the NHS to schools, council services, and views about the local area.

National Indicators: what has the pandemic taught us about how we measure wellbeing?

It is impossible to ignore the changes we have experienced over the last 18 months and the different light the pandemic has shone on what contributes to the wellbeing of Wales. As a result, we’re looking at whether this experience has highlighted any gaps in the way we measure progress towards our wellbeing goals.
