'Book your space now' imageIn July we told you about our plans to hold an open data workshop and we now have more news.

Where and when?

The event will be held at Cardiff City Hall on the morning of 6 November 2019. We are aiming for a 10am start and should be all done by 1pm.

Why attend?

The workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss the challenges associated with publishing, finding and re-using open data and how together we can begin to overcome them.

We will also be introducing attendees to a couple of open data projects that we are currently working on. We hope to gather your thoughts on what we have been doing so far and where we go next.

Who is this workshop for?

We’re hoping to have attendees from the public sector and private sector who are (or attempting to) publish and/or use open data in Wales. Therefore, we’ll be assuming that people will have a good understanding of what open data is.

Agenda for the day

The plan for the workshop is as follows –  you will of course be sustained throughout the morning with tea, biscuits and Welsh cakes.

Session 1: Open Data Workshop

This session will discuss the current barriers to publishing and using open data and will consider possible solutions, including the development of non-mandatory open data guidance for public bodies.

Session 2: Data Map Wales

During this session we will be demonstrating and gathering views on Data Map Wales – the new public sector geospatial platform for Wales.

Session 3: Open Data Catalogue

During this session we will introduce attendees to the Open Data Catalogue we have been working on. We will also be looking to gather views on whether people think it could help them find open data more easily.

How to Register

The event is free, although the places will be limited.

If you would like to book a place, please send an e-mail to digitalanddatablog@gov.wales and provide the following information:
